About
Welcome!
So here’s the deal: A few years ago, my husband (then boyfriend) and I decided to go vegan for health reasons. Many “meat-cheats,” loaves of bread, and larger pants sizes later, we decided to wise up and figure this vegan diet out. In researching a vegan diet, we came across so much information about animal cruelty, federal regulations, federal corruption, chemical additives, and over-processing in the food industry that I (a self-proclaimed cold-hearted egotist) decided veganism wasn’t just great for health reasons but for moral ones, too.
Now that I’ve gotten the diet thang balanced, my attentions have turned to finding balance and harmony in other areas of life. This includes my mental and physical health, my impact on my environment, my place in a global society, my relationships, and my overall sense of self.
And, of course, a blog fits into that equation! <–Please note attempt at sarcasm.
As a couple living in a rural area where there are only small pockets of liberal thinking here-and-there, Hubs and I find it difficult to discuss our diet without being teased nor be able to gasp at non-recyclers without feeling elitist. This journey into what we know is best for us isn’t always easy, is sometimes frustrating, and is oftentimes humorous. I hope this blog will not only allow me a forum to broadcast my experiences but perhaps be of help to those who are in a similar situation or those who wonder why the heck anyone would give a damn about animals or the health of a soybean crop or some kid in Afghanistan. I hope, too, that I can offer a giggle occasionally and maybe a bangin’ recipe for vegan chocolate cake.
Please enjoy!
Peace & Love,
G~
